GRAB01 x EIVY
Get to know Ella Lewander behind GRAB – an all-female park gathering collective where the first meet-up went off in Åre, Sweden.
Hi Ella! You are the woman behind the GRAB events for female skiers and snowboarders – what got you into the world of the outdoors in the first place?
I got to give kudos to mom and dad for that one. No trees were left un-hugged growing up, our main outdoorsy activities being hiking, sailing and skiing. Not gonna lie, was not sold at the great outdoors at first. My feet would get itchy from the knitted socks and the mosquitoes loved me. Ma & pa usually had to bargain with chocolate to get us touring up the mountains. Skiing down was however a breeze.
How did you come up with the idea of starting GRAB and what is it about?
I was just gonna put up a reel on Insta of me doing some small jibbs, and suddenly realized the caption was becoming a call for more girls to ski together with in the park. I thought about it for a little bit and then decided it was the perfect way to start something like this. To just put it out there, get people hyped and put some pressure on myself to actually follow through. Then baby GRAB was born. GRAB is here to steal some spotlight from the guys and expand the female culture within the park scene.
Tell us a bit about GRAB01, what did you do on your first meet-up here in Åre, Sweden?
14 hyped girls in a huge amazing looking villa called Ängarna310 in Tegefjäll, with a hot tub and a huge kitchen area and most importantly a backyard set up with rails where we spent most of our waking hours. We also hit the club dancing and had a pretty crazy night haha. I was super stoked on the accessories from EIVY and the fact that you made it possible for me to give out a board to one of the girls. Thank you! GRAB01 was a BLAST.
